SetupBoard is under active development. Today, the core creator runs entirely in your browser — your CAD/STEP files are read locally and are not uploaded to us unless you save a project to your account. This policy describes what we collect now and what will apply as more cloud features launch.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information SetupBoard ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the SetupBoard website and web application (the "Service").

2. Your files stay local

When you open a STEP file in the setup creator, it is parsed and rendered in your browser. Your geometry, dimensions, and notes are not transmitted to or stored on our servers until you choose to save them. Setup data is kept in your browser (and in files you choose to download). If and when you opt in to saving projects to an account, only then is that content stored on our behalf to provide that feature.

3. Information we collect

Information you provide: if you create an account or contact us, we collect details such as your name, email address, and any message content.
Usage and device data: like most websites, we may collect basic technical information (browser type, approximate region, pages viewed, errors) to keep the Service reliable.
Local storage: we use your browser's local storage to remember your settings, tool libraries, and in-progress work on your device.
Payment data (when paid plans launch): handled by our payment processor; we receive limited billing details and never store full card numbers.

4. How we use information

We use information to operate, maintain, and improve the Service; to provide support; to process subscriptions when paid plans launch; to keep the Service secure; and to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Service providers

We rely on a small number of third parties to run the Service, such as content-delivery networks for software libraries, hosting providers, and (for paid plans) a payment processor like Stripe. These providers process data only as needed to perform their services for us.

6. Cookies and local storage

We use local storage and may use cookies for essential functionality (such as keeping you signed in and remembering preferences). You can clear this data through your browser at any time, though doing so will remove locally saved settings and work.

7. Data retention

We keep account information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service or meet legal requirements. Locally stored data remains on your device until you clear it. You can request deletion of your account data as described below.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond consistent with applicable law (for example, GDPR, CCPA, or PIPEDA).

9. Children

The Service is intended for use in a professional/industrial context and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
